Mallorca / September 30, 2017

On September 18 off we go to Mallorca after almost two months at Badalona. Thanks to Chantal’s good contacts we finally received the ok for a winter place in Porto Cristo and are extremely happy.

Our GrosDoux enjoyed herself alot and sailed us in only 16 hours through the roughly 110 nm. The night was clearer and warmer as expected, – the wind much more stable. Only the waves tossed us a bit around, – otherwise a great cruise.

Now we are enjoying the bay next to Pollenca – wonderful! We have around one week before we have to go to the harbor of Porto Cristo, our place for the winter.

With 24° C, the water is just right for swimming and snorkeling, – wonderful relaxing.

Each morning we think about moving further, but still stay a bit longer. The bay is well protected and quiet that we most certainly won’t find a better place on the way to Porto Cristo.

Finally, we have to move on. One night we spend at Cala Mesquida (north-east coast), which offers a nice sandy bay so that our anchor immediately holds tight. Although there are hotels and holiday homes at the beach, it’s a quiet place. Due to being in the north-east part of Mallorca, there is always some swell here, but at the moment just right to move us into a deep sleep.

Sunday brings another beautiful sailing day after which our anchor drops at Cala Nao (east coast), approximately 5 nm before Porto Cristo. On Monday we drive into the harbor, still thinking back to our wonderful days of sailing and relaxing.

Our mooring is directly at the town quay, which seems quieter than expected.

Porto Cristo is on the east coast of Mallorca and a nice town with lots of restaurants, shopping and excursion possibilities. We are already looking forward to our island sightseeing tours via car and obviously via boat.

Now we have to make our GrosDoux ready for the winter, meaning flash respectively pickle e.g. the generator, water maker, engine, a/c and so on. Further we discuss the winter works with Peter, our local care taker, – as usual we have a long list of to dos. Finally our darling gets a proper cleaning with the new Kärcher, – Robin’s great joy:

My birthday we spend at the Restaurant ‚ Roland‘, enjoying an extraordinary tasty dinner:

The restaurant is worth not only one but several visits. Even if a trifle more expensive, the food is not only worth its money but fantastic.

On September 28 we go to the airport Palma. We hope coming back mid or end of November in order to start our island excursions.

See u!
